Samajwadi Party is all set for the assembly elections in UP, which had recently suffered a massive defeat in the three-tier panchayat elections, but now special emphasis is being laid on making a strategy to achieve the target of 2022 in the party with a thumping majority.

Recently a meeting was held at the Samajwadi Party headquarters, along with National President Akhilesh Yadav, Professor Ram Gopal Yadav, who is considered the party's think tank. During the meeting, the strategy for the 2022  elections regarding the election manifesto was discussed.

While some leaders advocated making laptops a part of the manifesto once again, some says the issue of employment is the most important. Therefore, if the party makes any big promise regarding employment in the manifesto, then it will be beneficial in the near future. Some leaders suggest that an announcement should be made about the families of those who died of corona. Some said that 10 lakhs jobs and 300 unit of free electricity should be included in the manifesto. This election will prove to be a challenge for the ruling BJP, and a tough fight is expected from the Samajwadi Party.

It is worth noting that last month, Akhilesh Yadav had said without mentioning BSP and Congress that my experience with big parties has not been good, so we will not form any alliance with them. The SP chief said that the people of the state are now in the mood for change and the BJP will have to face defeat in the assembly elections.

Samajwadi Party workers staged massive protests at all district and tehsil headquarters across the state on 15 July which they termed as ‘engineered rigging by the state government’ in state on 15 July. A memorandum addressed to the concerned district authorities to the Governor of Uttar Pradesh containing a 16-point charter of demands.

The demands included guarantees to farmers that their produce will supported by the Minimum Support Price (MSP), payment of Rs 15,000 crore of cane arrears dues, withdrawal of agricultral laws, probe into price hike, jobs to unemployed, crime against women, check stop. Harassment of senior SP leader Azam Khan, his son Abdullah, other family members and other SP leaders.
